Hi guys
I have a Kenwood Sovereign surround sound reciever model VR-5080. The problem is that when the power button is pressed it simply clicks as if its turning on then off. I have some experience with electronics so I opened it up and noticed that if I unplug the power transformer the power light seems to come on and stay on. I'm just wondering if its a good idea to try to replace the transformer or if theres something else I need to check first. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

You could replace the transformer if you are good at soldering. Inspect the other resistors, diodes, solder joints, etc on the rest of the board to make sure it the power didn't surge through them.
