I have a single handled water control in my tub and shower. I had to remove the old cartridge because the shower hot and cold handle broke off at the shaft. I wasnt able to remove the cartridge with a cartridge removing tool because the handle shaft broke of within the threaded area. So I had to remove the cartridge with a drill the only way i could think of loosening the cartridge. Pliers alone were not enough to dislodge the old cartridge.
Now the brass cylinder which houses the cartridge is damaged with nicks from the drill bit and the time used in trying to remove the cartridge. The new cartridge that I have just installed leaks around the front of the cartridge.
My question is is there any way to repair the brass housing that holds the cartridge without replacing the entire system? Is there a way to stop the leaking around the cartridge? I have installed a new Moen cartridge number 1222.

I'm afraid you ruined the faucet. The part you nicked is the body and is the part that normally stays mounted in the wall. You will have to replace it.
