I just installed a new sliding patio door. installation is by the book. A small child could barely open this door: series 5600 from home depot. So I removed the roller mechanisms. they seemed stiff lossened only slightly after applying some pentrating oil. reinstalled door still hard to move. the door seals very nicely.

Is hard sliding a tradeoff for tight fit and continuous weaterstipping?
Will lubricating the track help?
Could these rollers be defective from manufacturer?

Any suggestions?

If you argue with a fool, there are two in the room.

Make sure that you adjusted the rollers so that the frame isn't dragging on the bottom track. Other than that, call the manufacturer.

There are only three reasons for a sliding door not to open easily.
First, the door might be resting on the track. only the rollers should rest on the track. There are usually two adjustments to raise the door. Check the bottom of the door on both ends for plastic caps. Pry the caps off and you will need a long screwdriver or philips driver to make the adjustments to raise the door at both ends.

Second, the frame might be out of square.
Third, the frame might be out of plumb.
If this is the case, you may have to take out the door and the stationary door to square it off and adjust the plumb.
