Other than the pain of crawling under the house, why is it preferred to go from above when putting wire into the walls to hang satellite speakers?

if the speaker is going to sit on the floor , no reason
if its going to mount near the ceiling then above is preferable
its just a matter of conceling wire

Also gravity will help snake the wire in from above.

Why open a hole to the crawlspace? Its riskier than from above (musty odors, dankness, etc).
