i just purchased one of these for the first time.when i pull out the hand held hose from the hole to pick something up from the corner or etc debris shoots out from the hose where i took the hose from. should .not alot ,but that doesnt usually happen with my hoover,or any other sweeper ive ever noticed. is that normal for a dirt devil? i have never owned one before.

if the base is still down sounds like the brush is still picking up debris and tossing it out....if the base is up...the hose may be clogged and not enough vaccum to pull the debris into the catch area, so when you pull hose off it is stuck there

check your filters and hoses make sure nothing is clogged.. wife has a DD and the filter gets clogged FAST...so that is the common thing
