My mother-in-law needs a handheld shower added to her tub as she has no shower right now, only the tub. I have seen the tub spouts with the diverter and hook up right on the spout, but that would involve taking the tub spout off and replacing it, something I would rather not fool with since her plumbing is ancient. Is there something that fits over the spout itself and funnels the water into a shower head? Or am I dreaming? Thanks!

There are several versions of what you are looking for. They range from cheap 5 dollar units to fairly decent 20 dollar units.Do not waste your time with the cheap units as they almost never stay on the spout. The better units have mixed results and unfortunately the only way to find out is to try one.Spout shape and size etc make a difference and different designs seem to work better or worse depending on these factors.

I do not know which of these units are carried by the big box stores.I do know that Ace Hardware stores carry both the cheap and better units.

I had one once, it was a cheapie and wouldn't stay on the faucet if I turned the pressure very high, however, I added an automotive radiator type clamp on the faucet and it worked fine. Have a nice day. Geo

I have looked extensively online but haven't found one. Part of the problem is what to call it when putting it in a search engine. Can you give me something to look for when searching online? Thanks!

Sometimes referred to as bath/bathtub spray/sprayer.One common brand is "Homz" also often packaged under "store brands".Name varies with manufacturer or seller.Definately suggest you go look at them rather than buy online so you can see the actual design.
