Hello,
I'm demo'ing out my bathroom for a new walk-in shower. I'm having trouble removing the existing tub. I've already removed the tile and drywall above/around it, but it's in tight still!

I used a sawzall to cut out a chunk of the tub and take a look underneath. I don't know the type of tub: it seems to be a thin metal (iron?) with a white porcelain/ceramic coating on it. It wasn't too hard to cut with a sawzall metal blade.

Underneath, the only point of attachment I can see is where the drain and overflow connect.

Tips? Advice? Help please?

Thanks!

I've taken several of those out and the only thing I've ever found attached was the drain and possibly water supply. Sometimes they'll be nailed to the wall framing, but not usually. I've always cut the thing into manageable pieces and then cut the drain part from the drain out two ways so it comes off the drain without undoing any of the drain. That way I can see how the drain is configured before trying to take it apart, not being a plumber and all.

Cut the tub into three pieces, remove the middle piece, then the back piece. Unhook all the plumbing and remove the front piece. It makes it easier that way, since you are relieving pressure by removing the middle first.

Get a big hammer and bust it apart in pieces (i'm serious).

Thanks for the great advice everyone! I'll pull out the sawzall again and cut it up.
