Rick,

No harm will come to your a/c by storing in freezing temps.
The worse thing that can happen is that you drop it when removing it. :D

I realize window A/C units can be left intact in a window for the winter.
Question:
Does it shorten the life of a small window unit, 7500btu, to remove it from the window and store in unheated attic, in northern Ohio? Not sure if the control panel of unit may suffer from freezing temps?

Thanks in advance for any advice,
Rick

Clean the cooling coils, remove dust and debris. Clean filter. Check & clear drain of condensate water. By completing these chores before storing, you will not have to bother with them when warm weather returns. You might want to cover the unit with something to keep dust off during storage.
