I have this huge industrial size copper hood (15x12ft), that looks hammered or it has little bumps in it (uneven surface). It has never been cleaned I think in it's 50+ years. I cant seem to get off the grime and polish it to it's original beauty( other than a toothbrush and CLR which will take me the next 50 years to clean) . Any ideas on equipment and solutions?

Manufacturers of copper hoods that do not have a protective coating do not recommend the use of harsh chemicals and abrasives. They recommend stainless steel polish and flannel cloths. The use of any other type of cloth my scratch the copper. A degreaser can be used to soak off grease. Repeat applications may be necessary and degreaser given time to soak off grease before polishing with stainless steel polish or copper polish.
