Hello:
There is a very slightly crack (about 1 1/2 inches in length) in our Jacuzzi brand acrylic whirlpool tub. There does not appear to be any leaking through this so I want to repair it as soon as possible so it does not get worse. My suspicion is that something may have been dropped on it and caused a hairline crack.

Does anyone have any ideas of how this can be accomplished? I have found products advertised like Plast-Aid Acrylic & PVC Repair Kit, that specifically mentions acrylic and then the Elmers E769 Tub & Shower Repair Kit, which talks only of fiberglass, and of course Surface Repair, but it seems like "white-out" for bathtubs rather than a patching material.

Sounds to me like its just in the Gel coat is all. So Id check any marine store or look at http://www.defender.com

They have a Gel coat scratch patch

Acrylic tubs usually do not have a gel coat. The color goes all the way through the product. That's the beauty of the product. Chips, scratches, and dull finish can be buffed out. There are acrylic repair kits available and companies who specialize in tub repairs. Crack may be a result of not having enough support beneath it. Repair persons can inject additional support beneath and mend cracks.
