My daughter loves to draw and always has ink on her hands. In the process she has put ink all over the toilet seat, and I've tried everything to remove it. Any suggestions?

rubbing alcohol on a rag should do the trick..

Ink is best dissolved by rubbing alcohol, as docduck said. When you say you've tried everything, can you be little more detailed? Have you tried alcohol? Is this a permanent marker?

I live in the middle east and rubbing alcohol isn't readily available. Is there anything else you would recommend?

Any kind of alcohol will work. Denatured alcohol would be my next choice, but I have no idea what the options you have available are.

Do you have any mild household solvents available? These can be marketed under many different brands. Some folks report success using hair spray because it contains alcohol. It also contains lacquers and ingredients that may compound cleaning problems, but it may be worth a try if you have some on hand.

Nail polish remover might be effective, but the acetone can damage some finishes. Dry cleaning fluid may work. Graffiti remover, if available, may work. Because inks can be made from various recipes, it sometimes takes experimentation with a variety of cleaners. Test any DIY method first in inconspicuous area first as solvents and cleaners may take a toll on toilet lid finish. Do not rub cleaner. Blot on cleaner and let set.

If a cleaner is going to work, the cleaner will lift the stain, so you will need to give the cleaner a little time to work. Vinyl and paint are porous and often absorb ink stain, making it difficult and often impossible to remove ink stain. Permanent ink stains tend to be impossible to remove although some report success with grafitti remover.
