The epoxy seam in our granite countertop is lumpy and rough. What can I do to smooth it out?? Any suggestions are highly appreciated. Hope I've given enough info. TIA, Emilyb

During installation, a small bead of silicone is usually placed along the seam where two cuts join. Sometimes if area lacks sufficient support or may experience stress, epoxy is used. Sometimes stone dust is mixed in for a color match.

Acetone is often used for cleanup of epoxy. It may affect color of seam if attempting to smooth surface by wiping with acetone. Rubbing alcohol may work. Otherwise, old epoxy will have to be cut out and replaced. Because of the investment you have in a granite counter, it is likely best to have a professional make the repair. If this is a new counter, call their work should be warranted.
