A friend of mine wants to install a toilet in his basement. Is there a way to install a toilet without digging up the concrete? There is a cleanout trap about a foot off the floor on the main waste line. Can that be used somehow???

My toilet in my basement has been backing up after just a few flushes. It is the first in line coming from the main waste line. What should I use or do to correct this ?? Also there is a tree in my front yard where the waste line runs through. Could that be causing a backup?? What can I do to find or solve the problem ??

I don't have a clue what clean-out trap you are talking about, toilets have their own traps built into them, so anything with a trap can't be used. Don't know what size this line is, most of the time toilets have to be run on 3in. minimum. If this can be done you will have to install a 2in. vent off the toilet to 6in. above the highest fixture connected to the stack.

Your toilet backing up indicates that you have a clog. I don't know what type of pipe you have in your main sewer, but if it is clay there is a good chance that the tree has caused major problems with your line, I think that you need a pro. sorry.

Thanks for the info.
I'm sorry, I said trap. It is not a trap. But a y cleanout off of the main 3in sewer line. The main comes down from upstairs in to the concrete floor. A foot before it goes into th floor is a y cleanout. Is there any way to utilize this or does he have to dig? Thanks again
