I am getting ready to do my annual "peel off the mildewed shower caulk and replace with new caulk" project and I am thinking that there has to be another way.

I am using that caulk that is supposed to be mildew proof - or at least resistant - but it's not.

Any strategies or products that will keep that caulk from staining? Thanks

Tub and tile caulk has the most mildewcide. Washing the caulking with a bleach solution should help to remove any mildew.

Once caulk has been removed, surfaces cleaned, and caulk has been replaced, keeping surfaces clean and dry is the best prevention. After showering, wipe shower with squeegie or chamois. Leave shower door or curtain open for air circulation. Leave bathroom vent/fan running for 20-30 minutes to remove excess humidity. Mildew prone areas can be sprayed with disinfectant. Weekly cleaning is recommended. Mildew spores are everywhere in the air. When they find a damp, poorly ventilated, soiled surface, they settle in and set up housekeeping.
