Hi,
I have a Ryobi 14.4V drill and a Craftsman 14.4V drill. It came as a combo with the cordless saw and 2 batteries. I have read about where people have been able to somehow renew the batteries. Does this work? Is it easy to do or would it be better to buy new batteries? I also wanted to know which drill is better between the two? My parents gave me their Craftsman drill combo and the batteries were already wearing out. I bought the Ryobi and used it for a while. I wanted to know which is better so I would know which I needed to buy new batteries for.
Thanks,
Chris

If you search the archives, Chris, I think you'll find a couple of extensive discussions on the subject. The general concensus, I believe, was that it was not very effective.

I don't know about renewing batteries but as for the which drill to keep, I'd vote for both :D It is always handy to have a 2nd drill. If I had to pick just 1 I'd go with the craftsman because of the combo.

When you compare battery prices, you will find that Ryobi batteries are much less expensive than Craftsman.

Our local battery store will put new cells in the shell of your rechargeable batteries. I redid my NiMh panasonic's for $50 each - compared to about $90 for new.
A 12 volt nicad runs about $25.
