I'm planning to build an LCD monitor enclosure using wood and (here's my question) plexiglass. The goal is to keep the kids from marking on and damaging the monitor. I plan to build just a simple box frame for the monitor to sit in then secure it to my desk. I plan to put a frame with a piece of plexiglass in front with hinges on it so I can open it up and adjust the controls as necessary and maybe even a locking mechanism on the plexiglass frame -- My question: should I use some sort of safety glass as opposed to plexiglass? My thinking is that as th plexiglass gets scratched/broken, I can buff it or replace it as needed -- anyone else built something like this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

What about ventilation?

I think I would go for a piece of tempered glass. Most glass shops will cut a piece to order. It's also tougher to scratch than plexiglass.
