I recently had to replace my air handler with a new 13 SEER Trane air handler. The compressor is a 4 year old Trane XR11. When the compressor cycles off it does so with a harsh thump - almost like it seized up or shut off under pressure. This was not the case before the new air handler was installed. They did install a hard start kit on the XR11.
It is not a smooth shut off like the other Trane XR11 compressor I have that is linked to a Janitrol air handlerWith the old air handler.
Is this hardsh shut off damaging the compressor?
Thanks.
