put up new surround and on one wall which measured just about a half inch longer than the surround. somehow it is uneaven and the bottom part of the surround hangs over the edge. the surround has been glued and cannot be removed. we tried everything to make it even but could not accomplish it. we had to install it as it was our only bathroom and the surround was not returnable.

this is hard to explain..... if needed i'll take pics. may be a while b/c i broke the camera the other night.

anway, any tips on how to "blend" or "hid" this. it only sticks our about a quareter inch.

it doesn't bother me but we are putting the home on the market and i dont want this to be something a potiential buyers sees and decides not to buy b/c of it.

thanks...

Kind of late advice, but you should always prefit these things before you actually put on the adhesive. Check big box stores for some plastic of composite molding the will camoflage your oops.

we did pre-fit. it measured out perfect but for some reason when we test fitted (before glueing) the bottom section would over hang. i don't know exactly why this is. this is the section that goes directly up against the wall, it has a lip that you lay the longest section up against. so, there wasn't anything behind the lip that would make it stick out further.

i dont know if maybe the surround is a little warped or what. no matter what we did, we couldn't get it 100% even. we HAD to glue it up that night b/c we were leaving for vacation in a few days and it is our only shower/bath in the home. we wouldn't have been able to shower, the surround was non returnable and i had already spent a lot of $$ on it.

time didn't permit us to wait and buy a whole new surround just to use one piece of it.

the over hang doesn't bother me and its not at eye level (more like knee). i'm just worried a potiential buyer will see it.

i'll look into some trim or something....

any other suggestions???

Liz: Is this a 4 piece surround kit for an existing tub unit, or is it a complete tub with attached surround? If is just the panel sticking out past the tub, you may consider cutting it along a straight line with a rotozip, although you will have to be careful as the rotozip will melt the plastic as well as cut it. then you could install an outside corner to hide the rough edge. I may not have the right picture, so we will wait for you to take pix and post.

seems like you hit the nail on the head. it is a 3 pc tub surround. yes, the bottom portion over hangs past the tub. this part of the wall is about an inch longer than the tub. the surround fits perfect all the way down to the bottom of the tub where there is about 5 - 6 inches where it starts to over hang the corner or the wall.

i had thought about cutting but was unsure it could be cut b/c of the type of material. i figured it would become very rigid and sharp.

i dont know if i'll be able to put up pics due to breaking the digi cam. i really can't afford to go out and buy one. i'll see about borrowing one so i can get some pics up. as this is an issue i think needs solved or some potiental buyer might see it and not buy. UHG!!!

thanks so much......i'll keep the topic updated.

If im understanding what you have their - a side piece of the surround is protruding past where the wall ends by 1/4". Can you use the surround edge as a straight edge to feather some drywall joint compound on the outside wall. You could feather the outside wall such that it might not be noticeable. Not sure if I have your situation right though. A picture would really help. You must have a neighbor or relative with a digital camera - no?

Happy Thanksgiving.
