I have designed a computer holder about 10 wide, 22 tall, and 22 deep (basically a vertically standing box without a front or back). I thought I would use 1/2 inch MDF throughout. The unit will have two 2-inch wood braces at the rear.
I don't know what to fasten everything together with. First I thought about camlocks but they require 5/8 or 3/4 thick MDF. Then I thought I would just use MDF screws, but they leave holes on the outsides that are unsightly. Probably I should use 3/4 MDF???
What kind of blade should I use on my 10 inch table saw for the MDF? It has the standard "do-all" blade.
I also thought about using diagonally cut 2x2s a glued to each corner but don't know if I also have to nail/screw the adjacent sides together??
Finally, what can I use to tape the edges and finish the outside surfaces so that it looks like wood? I've seen veneer but at $32 for a 4x4 foot sheet I might as well go buy a cabinet at officedepot...
Ideas?
