Hi Forum Folks! This is my first post here and I would like some advice please!
Complete bathroom remodel!
I have the tub torn out and was looking for a replacement tub...
I am going to tile the walls and was atracted to a plastic tub... it is very nice but I have never tiled around a plastic tub.
I was thinking that if it is plastic it is not as rigid as a steel tub would the flexing of a plastic tub cause the firstrow of tiles to constantly crack at the grout lines?
Thanks,
Chris

I think you'll be okay if you adequatly (sp?) support the bottom of the tub to minimize flexing.
I've seen tubs set in a bucket of drywall mud or a bag or two of quickrete. Try something like that.

Set your tub properly - then cover the walls with a CBU product for the base of your tile. The CBU (wonderboard, etc.) will provide the stability to keep your tile from shifting. The joint between the tub and the first row of tile should be caulked with 100% silicone (fill the tub with water before caulking) as should the corners of the wall.
