I will be replacing about 1/2 of the floors in a mobile home.
the current insulation has a metal layer on top of it (looks similar to flashing. this is a 1980 model Mobile home.

I am considering putting 4 to 6 inches more insulation on top of the current insulation when I have the floor boards up, but did not know if I would have to poke holes in the metal layer on the current insulation to let moisture through, and if there is a special insulation I would have to buy for this application. If I add the insulation on top, I would run it the same direction as the current insulation, between the joists, and may have to cut it where I am adding cross beams perpendicular to the joists to hold the floor up at the wall.

or am I missing some important point about that metal coated insulation?
