I am in the process of refinishing some dining room chairs. My question is how do I sand the round front legs & the inside of the spindles?

you cut a piece of sandpaper to fit into the palm of your hand. or you get a sanding sponge. either will conform to the round areas.

You can also cut strips of emery cloth and pull them back and forth similar to shining shoes. If you are really finiky, you can lay a piece of mason's string in a little glue and once removed run it through a little play sand. Once it dries, it will give you a limited amount of sanding in really tight places.

Thanks to you both. Do I use a lower grade paper(60-80) because I will be hand sanding. I was using 120 with the sander.

You may want to start with a coarser grit but you always want to finish with a fine grit. 120 grit is fine enough for most paints but to stain you would want to do the final sanding with 180 or 220 grit. Be sure to sand with the direction of the wood grain.
