I have 2 older Yorkies and a cat. My wife and I have always had carpet, but the cleaning with the pets is just not getting it done anymore. We are looking at possibly installing Pergo Wood laminate, but have questions about the seal between boards if an animal has an accident and is left overnight. Is there a sealer to put on the flor to prevent seepage between the sheets?

there are laminates that have a solid vinyl core, instead of the pressboard, that are made just for wet areas. that would be better. and they're not sheets, they're planks with tongue & groove edges that click together.

but i'd be looking at keeping the pets in a room with sheet vinyl overnight if accidents are happening regularly.

I understand they are planks with Tongue and Groove type connections, but my question is whether that actual joint can keep liquids from getting under the planks. Not just from the animals but dropped glasses of water or milk (Did I mention we also have a 4 year old?) Is the joint butted up tight enough to the other planks to make it almost water tight?

probably almost. the main thing about them is that the core is plastic, so water won't make them swell & separate creating gaps & buckling. but i'm not sure if liquids "could" get down into the seams or not. if tinkle could, that might start to have an odor.

maybe go to their websites & see if they say specifically. i think a couple are called DriCore and Amtico.
