Not sure where this belongs....
We are re-doing our living room that has- A picture window at on end- French doors at the opposite end (open to a dining room) and a large square entrance into the room from the foyer.
This makes it touch to arrange furniture- If I could make the arch smaller (more narrow)- Right now it's about 4' wide, I could put a couch against that area and everything would fit nicely. Outside of tearing wall down- Any creative ways to make the entrance smaller in some tasteful way??

rearranging the furniture, or possibly buying different furniture, would be easier than reconstructing the opening.

can you tell us the furniture pieces in the room & give us the dimensions of the room? maybe there's an easy solution.

Yeah- thanks Anette- I really don't want to buy new furniture since it's pretty new... I have a large long sofa and an oversized matching chair. There are only a few places to put the sofa..... I'll keep trying some different things

well, depending on the dimensions of the room, you might be able to float the sofa out in the room, instead of keeping it up against a wall. if you can give the room dimensions & furniture pieces, we might be able to help you.

were you in this house when you bought the big furniture?

What's on the 4th wall? Another opening? If room has a fireplace for a focal point, couch could be floated to face the fireplace, as indicated, if there is enough room. Or, perhaps couch could be angled. If you have a familyroom, perhaps this long couch would better fit there. Perhaps a smaller couch or loveseat in the familyroom would work better in the livingroom.

You can post pictures at www.photobucket.com and post a link here for us to see. Also post room dimensions and couch length.
