I plan on buying some of that floating floor laminate real soon and I am going to *try* and do it for the first time myself. What I need to know is what is the best direction to lay the laminate in my house (see the picture link below) and where exactly to start. Also I have given measurements to each wall in the area to be done, can someone tell me how much Square Footage I will need? Thanks!

perpendicular to the floor joists.

Length x width = sqft. + 10% for waste/mistakes
Keep extras for later too-for any fixes you might need.
