Hi everyone, I am installing 3/4" thick 2 1/4" wide bruce oak pre-finished hardwood floors. This is my first time. I need to install about 1200 square feet. I own a Rigid 1.8 Hp Running, 4.5 Gallon Oil Free Air Compressor. I wanted to purchase a nailer that will do the job right for installing the floors. I was told that I should get a nailer and not a stapler. As I plan on re-flooring other homes, I am looking for a durable nailer that isn't a bank buster. Can anyone recommend a nailer and where I could get one cheap? Is my compressor adequate for this application?

I do not beleive you will find a floor nailer ; on the cheap, that will allow you to do contract work after you finish your own project. I a doing the same thing at home and intend to earn some money later. I purchased a Stanley/Bostich Industrial Nailer. This uses 2 inch "cleat nails" and I am using a Craftsman 5 gallon portable compressor,; works fine. I don"t nail at a rapid pace as I fit and nail as I go, so the compressor has time to cycle and cool. Look at the post a bit farther down from Bigfred /

i didnt have the experience to install solid wood floor, i only install the laminate floor only, laminate floor is more easy install than solid floor and easy maintance.the price is also reasonable,

My internet research led me to the purchase of a Porta-Nailer 402 manual floor nailer yesterday. I would recommend it for you too. Although $199 (at Amazon) may seem to high, you can sell it when done for about $150 on Amazon, if it's kept in good condition. Also, when you start flooring other houses you'll be able to afford a pneumatic one. One other thing, the the Porta-Nailer uses serrated 2" nails. These will obviously have more holding power than staples.
