I have just had the basement repoured and had tiling placed underneath the slab. I now want to finish the rest of the basement, but I have read many conflicting stories. I have heard that I should not drylok the walls, but rather to place 6 mil plastic on the surface to create a vapor barrier. I should then place the wall 1"- 2" from the wall and wood stud a wall, then drywall. Won't the insulation fall onto the VB if not secured and do I need another VB on this side of the stud wall, before the drywall? I have also read that I should use the foamboard and place the wall on the VB against the concete block walls. I am not sure how to make this basement warm and dry. Someone please tell me the right way to do this.
