go to websites for cabinetry, sinks, fixtures, towel bars, towels, shower curtains, accessories, flooring, appliances, etc. they'll be shown in completely decorated bathroom & kitchen settings.

You rule out country and western bathroom decor. What exactly do you have in mind. Does your home have a specific theme in its decor? Decorating style should reflect your personality.

Contemporary? Cottage? French? Traditional? Swedish? British Accents? Vintage? Shabby Chic? Primitive? Victorian? Eclectic? Art Deco? Rustic? Whimsical? Mediterranean? Modern? Oriental? Spanish? Classical?

Look around your home and take a look at how you have decorated your home and define your theme and carry it on into bathroom and kitchen. There are many magazines, books, and websites that may help you define your style and identify trends in kitchens and baths. HGTV is also a good place to start to see what is 'hot' in kitchens and baths. Visits to kitchen and bath dealers who can work with you on design will likely be the next step. In the meantime, while researching take advantage of open houses and tours of model homes in your area.

The look of natural stone floors in kitchens and bathrooms is hot. Solid surface & natural stone counters. Sauna-like bathrooms, too. While many still prefer the look of finished wood, a lot of painted cabinetry is sold today. Elegant plumbing fixtures. Bathroom vanities that look like furniture. Stainless appliances in kitchens. Elegant light fixtures and separate lighting for tasks. Once you begin your research, you will quickly discover what is hot and what is not.
