I just noticed this as I was downstairs in our utility room. Apparently, whoever installed the central air system for our house, did a poor job of insuring the evaporator unit is squarely placed on top of the furnace. In fact there is a big warning label on the evaporator that indicates this ! The bottomline is we are getting air leakage around this JOINT because the evaporator is hanging about 1/2" OVER the edge of the furnace.
Short of having to RE-DO the entire installation, can we just use either some of that great silica-gel caulking or the metal tape with acrylic adhesive to seal this leak ?
Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated !
