I have an LG dishwasher LDS5811 (sorry I ever bought it). It started off with small parts breaking off with the adjustable tines. I called to get replacement parts and did get them (3 weeks later). The dishwasher then developed a strange noise. I called LG for service company and they offered 3. One was out of their territory. The second would not come because I did not buy it from them. The third came, took care of the problem and broke a filter in the process. They indicated that they would replace the item. One month later, I called and sure enough they indicate that the item is on back order. A month later and no return calls, I call LG and find out if it truely is on back order. Sure enough it is not and never has been. I can not get the service company to return any of my calls. I call LG and tell them the story, they try to contact service company with same results. LG agrees to send me the part and to elevate the issue of the service company. I am thinking that LG maybe does care about its customers. A month later, I call to find out when I should be expecting my part, no record of my call. They again agree to send my part and elevate the issue of the service company to their superiors. A couple of days later, I call to confirm the part is on its way (this is about 5 months later now) and sure enough, it is confirmed. Two days later, I get a call that they can not send the part out free of charge. To top it all off, more small parts broke on the dishwasher in the meantime.

Bottom line, LG machines are questionable in quality, difficult to impossible to get service (and I live in the Boston area - not a small area) and LG the corporation does not stand behind it authorized service companies nor will honor its own word. I know I will never buy another LG appliance. Buyer beware.

Well, hopefully I do not have the same problems you have had. I also have a LDS5811. I have had 2 problems with the machine and I have had it about 1 1/2 years now.

The first problem was an IE error code. I fought with that for awhile and then actually checked my homes water pressure. It was low so I cranked it up. Haven;t had that problem since.

The only other problem is the wheels on the racks keep breaking. Haven't tried to replace any yet, I just keep taking from areas that aren;t realy essential and putting them where I need them but I am running out of "spares".

Functionally the washer is as good, or better than any I have used before though.

I do understand your gripes though. Maybe we will get some others with various LG appliances to give their impression of LG on this thread.

I have also had the broken track wheels. They split right in half. I to am swapping around the built in spares for the ones I need, but I expect to build a stash of them before the warranty ends. Call them up for replacements. They should send them out. LG claims they have a 2 year parts warranty. (1 year for parts and labor). Not sure if they will warranty it though, based on my experience. I am only 9 months into my ownership. I am supposedly getting replacements wheels, but time will tell.

In general, I found that my old GE low-mid level dishwasher provided the same level of cleanliness as this high priced dishwasher. I keep hearing about LG, but am not impressed what-so-ever. Infact when I was looking for a front load washer, I stayed clear of LG. I figure if it breaks (and from my experience it will), I will not be able to get anyone to service it. I can understand if I lived out in the middle of nowhere, but I am in a major city.

I stay away from LG products. Made overseas & I can't even get parts from my supplier that is one of the biggest appliance parts supplier in the US. I tell my customers to stay away from LG. Dave
