I notice my gas furnance lately sometime only hear the ignition sparking sound but no flame comes on..it goes off a few minutes later. This furnance has a Honey well S86E Intermittent Pilot control, sometime when the problem happens, I knock on the control then the flame comes on.. I am not sure whether is this control deffected.. don't know what is inside the control, may be a relay contact is corroded... can some one familliar with this control tell me whether is this control should be replaced.. thanks in advance..

When you hear it sparking all times, is the pilot lit?

Make sure the wires, and connection are good, and clean.

Be honest, I don't really know it has a pilot in there... I need to check, I thought it ignites and does not need the Pilot and I thought the Honeywell S86E provides the Intermittent pilot, that is why I suspect the control is deffected... I will check and clean all the connections see what happen then... anyway thanks for getting back
