I have a 10 year old Janitrol heater ac all in one unit. The heater is the problem at the moment. When my heater turns on, the exhaust fan will turn on, the ignitor will glow and the smart valve sv9500 will open and the heater will turn on. It will run for a few minutes then the pilot will turn off and the ignotor will keep clicking on and off to try to relight the burners. I've had this problem a few years, in the past I have disconnected the ignitor module and resawdered a few of the connections and amazingly it worked for the rest of a winter approx. 4-5 months. Lately, that technique doesn't work. The heater will only light when the unit is cold, or hasn't been run in 8-12 hours. The unit has a trouble shoot guide which I have performed to my best ability. I turned off the gas line and turned on the unit and the ignitor remained glowing, when I turned on the gas it would try to light and continue clicking on and off, tring to light the burner. I think the smart valve is is either bad or the ignitor box is just shot. Would it be better to just to replace the smart valve since it comes with a new ignitor already attached or just try to find the ignitor box itself, or should I just get the smart valve and a new glow ignitor altogether? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It's gettin cold and I have a new baby on the way, iI need to get it fixed. Thank you.

If you have a Honeywell Smart Valve, the ignition control is intergrated. There is no separate "ignitor box".

Chances are that it is the Smart Valve but without seeing it, it's hard to say for sure.

The SV9500, an older model smart valve, can be disconnected after you take the SV housing off. It's just a 4 prong harness and a ground wire. Thanks for the response.
