Hi-
I know theres been alot of questions asked and answered on here about the heat pump blowing cold air.So i have a few more.Should the heat pump have a breaker in side the home? Also where do i locate the big copper tube going into the house would it be under my house or just behind one of the panels surrounding the outside unit? Also how do you tell if the compressor is running i can only tell the fan is running.

Than You.

A heat pump will have a breaker in the main panel for it and also one for the oudoor unit. Then there will be another one in the same line in the indoor unit for the fan and electric heaters.
On the copper freon lines hard to say. the big and small copper lines .look for them at the oudoor unit and how they go into the home. Then look inside at the blower unit where the lines come from and go to that blower unit there.
Go out side and feel the big copper line if hot then it is running

Im not sure whats going on i know my lights in the house go dim from time to time like the compressor is kicking in but for some reason it is just cool air coming from the ducts. It got real cold last night but the house was 65 this morning we had the heat set at 75 just not sure what could be going on.

Dont know what set up you have there. Can be the compressor is not running . defrost board is bad??? . On a heat pump the heat pump runs and warms the home if it cant then the electric elements kick on also to help. Now when it goes into defrost . It runs as a AC so the elements should come on also so it dont blow cold air.

I know its a rheem with a 1 ton heat pump thats about all i know. The heat worked fine last year and the air worked fine all summer now it just dont want to heat. The fan is running but i am unsure of the compressor. When i switch over to emergency heat the fan stops and the unit is making noise but still kinda cool air coming from the ducts.

Thanks for the help.
