Still have not found out what type of furnace this is but i use it for hot water and it has a low water shutoff thing in the back. About a few weeks ago i started up my furnace for the first time since April and it was smoking. I finally called the pro.... in and about 3mins and $90 later he told me that the chimmney was clogged so I cleaned this out and tired to clean the furnace with the exception of the stuff directly in the chamber (can't get to it with my vac). So after cleanin out the clog i guess solving the part of the smoke problem, It still smokes except if I open up the lid in front the smoke is sucked in . My guess is the soot in side is smoking and if the lid is not open then the draft won't suck it in so how can i get the soot from in the chamber.

So did you hire this guy to fix it or as a consultant? Why if he diagnosed it did he not repair it?
So now that you have the draft back the burner needs to be tuned up, by a proffesional oil burner tech, not a consultant, and with combustion test equipment, not by eye.

I dont get that if you called a service tech to check the furnace and burner How come you end up with the vacuum. Didnt he clean the burner and reset it for you. Id call him back on this.

I totally agree with ED & Hello. Whomever services the burner should check the exhaust gases for CO2, O2, CO, draft, smoke number, & stack temperature, as well as several items on the burner itself.

I agree with you all on this and this is why I can't trust none of the (supposed reputable contractors in my area) But i had my chimney cleaned today and my furnance is running much better. The guys went down in the basement and cleaned the furnace flute as well. Then he showed me the crap in my furnace that needed cleaning. Only thing is my vaccum in not small enough to get in the fire pit (chamber) itself. His was not small enough either. But the little smoke that is left is not much I nevertheless i would like to get it to the bottom of the problem.
Do you have the names of some of these diagnostic materials i can buy and use on my own.

I suggest you call various contractors or oil suppliers & specificly as them if they do a complete combustion analysis. Having the equipment (+/- $1000 worth) & even knowing how to use it is pretty much worthless without knowing how to interpret the results. Get that heater cleaned soon because without a proper cleaning & tune up, very quickly you will be right back to where you were.
