is it necessary for me to tile under the built in dishwasher or can i lay the tile up to the dishwasher? if any goes wrong on the d/w there wil still be room for me to get it out if need be anyhelp is appreciated?

That depends on whether or not you are putting a subfloor down. If you are just applying mortar and tile to the floor, you should have enough clearance.

1/2" concrete underlayment board is recommended over wood subfloor. Tile is usually 1/4". 3/4" can lock your dishwasher in. Sometimes DW legs can be adjusted to accommodate the increased height.

1/4" CBU is all you need and a membrane is even thinner, depends on what subfloor is there now.

And if you can go with the membrane you might just have enough clearance to pull the diswasher out, tile under it then put it back.
