I've got a wall that has been furred out about 3 inches. I'd like to insulate it as it butts up to the garage. Rock will be 5/8" on both sides. Blown-in insulation is something I'd rather not do.
I could go with the standard fiberglass, but the cavity won't be full, I would assume.

A R 13 should fill a stud wall.Paper to the warm side or room side.

Thanks Ed. Will it fill up the cavity though? The wall is 3 inches or so deeper then a normal wall.

How deep is deep???? R13 is 3.5" a R 19 is 6"
R 25 is 8.75"

it's probably closer to 6". Maybe I'll go with R19 then?
Another issue is that the interior side of the wall is already finished, so I cannot face nail the paper to that side. Probably not a big deal though.
