Hello,
I have a '97 Kenmore automatic dishwasher model #363.1435198. Recently, I have been noticing more than normal residue which remains on the dishes after a full cycle. I have performed all of the troubleshooting tips in my Sears owner's manual (hard water, hot dry, etc.) to no avail. Does anyone know of some techniques to aid in the proper cleaning of these dishes? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Joey

Here are some things you can check from this site:
http://www.applianceaid.com/drain_wash.html
"Quick tips: Dishes not cleaned properly....
Check the water temperature. Should be 125 to 140 F.
Check pump re-circulation., Listen, see if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
Check water level when the fill cycle has completed. Should be just under the heating element. If not, possibly need to replace the water inlet valve.
Check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks.
Check to make sure dishwasher is draining after each cycle. There should only be a little water in the bottom of the tub.
Make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.
Possibly try a different detergent. Some liquid-gels will bubble and a pump cannot pump bubbles. "
Also: You can try adding 1/2 - 1 cup of vinegar at the beginning of the final rinse cycle to see if this would help. Could be hard water stains/deposits.

The biggest problems come from a water temperature problem or not enough water. I would say you have either one, check you temperature with a thermometer both at the tap and in the tub. The tap is usually higher but should be about 140 degrees some DW require less. Too high a temperature can cause problems also. The water level should be up around or just below the heating element. Sometimes a partially clogged water valve is the problem.
