Situation: I have a Brinks bhs-3000A system, unmonitored, that beeps at the keypad about every 24 hours. It apparently beeps because I'm not hooked up to monitoring and the system flashes "CP problem," meaning it can't communicate with Brinks. I have to hit "cancell" every 24 hours. It's like the tv series LOST.

Question 1: Does anyone know of any way to stop this beeping? Perhaps even disconnect the keypad speaker?

Question 2: Does anyone know how to open up the faceplate to disconnect the speaker if necessary?

Thanks.

Markcraftsman, From what I have found Brinks system can ONLY be programmed by Brinks. I may be wrong but Google bhs-3000A.

I was amazed by what I was reading. But I guess they want your money or you can go some place else for service.

Your local Brinks dealer _might_ be willing to shut down the dialer and leave the system functional for local service, but don't bet on it. Even if they are willing, they will still hit you for a service call.

In the long run, replacing the control and keypad(s) (hopefully it's a hard wire system so you don't have to mess with wireless transmitters as well) will be what you will end up having to do.

Basically without Brinks' programming tools and codes, you are stuck. There are a couple of models that people have found ways into, but even that is very limited.

Thanks. If I can't program the system to stop beeping from the "CP problem", can I just disconnect the keypad speaker? Does anyone have any suggestions in this area? I'm not even sure how to take the face plate off. Thanks.

If it's typical, the speaker is part of the keypad circuit board, and there's no practical way to disconnect the sounder without damaging the keypad beyond repair. There are a couple of designs where the speaker is plugged into a jumper type connector that you could simply unplug, but those are uncommon.
