I have a house built in 1900. From the home improvement projects I have done I haven't seen any or much insulation in the exterior walls. All the walls are plaster and lath except for one room that is sheetrock, and that room is on the second floor.

We also have one heating zone, and the second floor gets very warm while the first floor stays comfortable to a little bit cooler than desired.

My question is, how easy is it to have insulation done for the exterior walls? I assume that blown insulation would be the best way to go. Also, since the second floor has more than enough heat, do we need to insulate at that level as well, or just the first floor?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
