I have an older trane heat pump. In the summer, it would stop cooling and just blow air. We could hit the thermostat or unit outside and it would start cooling. We had a new thermostat and a relay replaced in August. Now we have switched it to heat and nothing blows but cool air. it did finally switch to warm air Friday and I later turned it off. Now it only blows cool air on heat. A/c guy not sure the problem.

Outside unit run???? compressor or just fan run??? Defrost board ok???? Will it run on AC ???

Yes, the outside unit runs.
Both the compressor and the fan runs.
Yes, it will run on A/C okay.
EME heat works.
Sorry , no knowledge on the defrost board.

Is the big copper line hot as it goes into the coil inside the home. Did the AC guy check the defrost board??? the 4 way valve???

Both lines are cold.

We are not sure about the defrost board or the 4way valve. A/c guy came out 3 times prior to this and cannot figure it out. I will call him Monday and ask about the defrost board and the 4way value.

yes both lines are cold and the compressor is running.
Called a/c guy today. He is doing some 'big' jobs this week and will call me when he can work me in. I could not talk to him, just the receptionist, to ask the questions about the defroster board and the 4 way valve.
hummmm guess I am the small bucks ........
