I have a Maytag Dishwasher Model Number DWU7400AAE that is about 12 years old. The dishwasher itself works ok - a little noisy- but ok. The problem I have is the door. If one or both racks are loaded and pulled out, the door does not stay in position - it flops down from the weight. When the rack is empty, it stays in a horizontal position.

My spouse says the reason it's doing this is because the plastic part that the hinge is attached to has worn away a bit and the hinge doesn't have good purchase. To deal with this problem while loading the racks, we have placed a small step stool under the door to prevent it from drooping down.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Sounds like the door stops are worn you .. you can pull out the dishwasher and look to see but I think they are part of the tub and that cost may as well get new unit
