I see that most all humidifiers are installed in the return duct-meaning very humid air goes straight in to the fan. Won't this cause rust in years to come?

It the cooling coil between the humidifier and the blower?

if so then the bloower see 100% humidity in the cooling cycle. how does it look now?

No harm done with this.. It has been done like this for many years. It's not dripping wet air going in there.. As long you stay on top of it keeping the pads changed, and water tray clean you won't have problems.

LIke Ed said, the misting type humdifier will cause rusting.
