Should I add a whole house humidifier to my heat pump? Will it actually make it "feel" warmer in the house at lower temps? Also, if I do add it, I've heard its better to tap the hot water line. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Yes for sure . You need one and get a good one. You will push the tstat down some after its in.

I put one in before last winter and it made an improvement. Not DRASTIC, but it was definitely noticable. And the pets liked not getting shocked with static too.

I like the april air brand.....but others make good units too.

And yes better performance is to be had by using hot water....but the cost of running it with hot obviously goes up. I run mine with cold and it works.....but then again im somewhat cheap.

By useing the hot water for them .It seems to put out more humidity and the drip filter seem to stay clean longer. So it will cost you less on the long run.
