We have a Maytag electric dryer. Frequently sheets will get twisted up and not get dry. Why?

Not sure if it's your dryer. It's probably not getting dried because it's twisted. You don't have problems with clothes right? I heard you can toss in some tennis balls to help it not get twisted. Never tried it myself, but wait on someone to 2nd that as I'm not sure it's safe to do.

When a large item is tumbled in one direction, the item tends to wrap up into a tight ball, restricting airflow to the center. It is doubtful that tennis balls would prevent wrapping. Check on bed sheets during drying to separate and unwrap if balled up. Avoid overloading dryer. Dry one set of sheets at a time.

What model dryer do you have? Some dryers have a tendency to twist clothes but Maytag has never had a real problem with that. The speed of the drum turning will have an effect on the clothes in the drum. There isn't a baffle missing on the drum is there? Post back model number and that will help. Twelvepole is right in that overloading will effect the condition of the clothes. Have you recently purchased a new washer with a capacity larger than the dryer can handle?
