I have a 3 year old Kenmore side by side fridge. My ice machine has just suddenly stopped working. There is no noise or attempt by the machine to cycle. It seems as though the water fill line is not frozen. There is a sensor that beams IR through the ice bucket to determine if it is full. I noticed a LED light above that that is not lit. Should it be? I think this could be my problem but am not sure.

I had the same problem. The repairman had to come out and replace the seneor that tells the fridge to give it water. Most of the gismoes on these babies are expensive. We ended up getting the maintanence warranty, which in the long run saves a lot of money.

Aren't these fancy electronics on appliances wonderfull? Hard to troubleshoot & very expensive to replace. A beam to sense when ice bin is full, whats next?
