I recently purchased some slate, and had it installed by a reputable(??) installer. He did not seal the slate before installation or before grouting. Now I am tryin to seal the slate, but it is not penetrating much of the slate. There is about a 1" ring around almost every piece from where I assume some of the chemicals from the grout penetrated.

what can I do to correct the problem? What brand or type of sealer would work best?
