Hi, I recently had my AC replaced with a Goodman(CP1E36-1C) heat pump. After I had it installed the installer wired my old thermostat so that only the AC(it was summer) would work because I did not have the correct thermostat. Since then I have acquired the correct thermostat, a Honeywell TH8320U1008.
Not knowing the HVAC terminology, I am having some difficulties in troubleshooting this. This is a dual fuel system. Assuming that I have all the thermostat settings correct, the problem leads me to believe its the wiring, I can list all my stat settings later if need be. The stat is currently wired:
R - Red(jumpered with RC)
O/B - Orange
Y - Yellow
G - Green
S1 - Pink(outdoor sensor)
The problem is that the outside unit will never kick on, either heat or AC. When I tell it to heat, it says 'aux heat on', but the gas furnace never kicks on either. However, in all cases the inside blower does turn on. Also, the outdoor sensor does not seem to be sending the signal to the stat to display the outdoor temp. Since this hookup job was a "favor", I have tried to contact this person for assistance, but have not had much luck in him returning my calls. If anyone could assist I would greatly appreciate it. TIA.

First do you have a outside tstat on it to go from heatpump to the furnace?

I am not sure if I understand your term for an outdoor tstat, but there is a sensor with a number of C7089U1006. Other than that there is nothing else mounted any where unless it is inside the heat pump where I cannot see it.

NM, got it working. There was two problems. One, when I was checking fuses(50 year old house), I plugged them back in the OFF position, I flipped them over and that allowed the compressor to receive power.
Next, there were 3 more wires that needed to be plugged in. White, blue and black. Its all good now. Luckilly, I did not blow the transformer in mixing and matching the wires. It all works now, hp kicks on and if I crank up the heat the gas comes on.Kids are happy now. Thanks for the help.

The gas dont run with the heatpump does it????
Most units are wired with a ot tstat So that the heatpump will shut off before it has to go into a defrost. Then the gas will take over

This stat (Visionpro) serves as the outdoor stat.
But It sounds like it isn't setup correctly or the gas wouldn't kick on on the increase of setpoint.
If this is what is happening the compressor isn't going to last very long.
Stat should have the gas locked out until a certain outside temp, then lock out the compressor.
Better check you setup options.
