We recently had new carpet installed and the installer nicked up my baseboards. They are painted with oil based paint. Is is possible to just touch up the nicks and have them blend in?

How long ago were they painted? Do you have the paint or will you have to buy new paint?Is it a mixed color or premixed/factory color?Is the paint coming off easily or are these the result of serious contact?

If the paint is pretty new,if you have the paint on hand and it has been stored properly and will mix ok,if it is a straight forward color and this isn't peeling paint or paint that isn't adhereing well then maybe it will work out.

Paint color changes with age,stored paint can stay ok if stored right,if you have to go buy more paint for this and especially if it was a mixed color all bets are off,and if the paint came off easily you have more problems that touching up.

Most oil base enamels [light colors] are bad to yellow over time. Barring that the base board should touch up well. Depending on the carpet pile you may need to use a little tape to keep the carpet down [away from paint] while it dries.

Worst case scenario - repaint the base.
