My year old whirlpool Ultimate Care II (model LSQ9549PW2) washer isn't working. It was full of water at the end of a regular cycle and wouldn't start on any cycle when the knob was turned. I took the clothes out, bailed the water out and when I turned it to a new setting, it started to fill but quit as soon as it was full of water. Nothing happened when I tried to change the setting to a new cycle. Any ideas as to the problem? Thanks!

Is the lid closed...?

Yes, the lid was closed. I checked all the obvious things like a bad outlet, blown fuse, kinked hoses, water turned off, etc.

Greybeard is on the right track. Sounds like the lid switch. Do you hear a slight click when you shut the lid? There should be a small tab on the inside right of the bottom of lid. This tab pushes down into a switch when you close the lid & allows the washer to agitate & also controls the spin cycle. You can use a pen to push down into switch to see if its even there. I've seen alot of these plastic switches break & just hang there or the screws that hold them vibrate off. Dave

Thanks! I'll check the lid switch.
