What's the reason for misting grout for a few days while it's curing?

And is it necessary?

(It's for a shower surround, and the bag of grout does tell you to mist it. Just wondering if it makes it stronger or what it does. And would it cause any discoloration?)

Thanks!

Misting is recommended because tiles can rob grout of moisture and prevent proper setting. Misting also keeps grout from curing too fast which can cause cracking. Misting assures full hydration of grout and even drying. Misting should not cause discoloration of colored grout.
